Some people are destined for greatness. With talent and drive, they accomplish things that others can only dream of. People like Quentin Harris. As one of today’s most respected producers and DJs, Harris maintains a hectic travel schedule that spans the globe while working with artists like Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, and Jennifer Hudson.
There’s simply no denying it—something about the combination of hot steam, ill-fitting towels, and the relaxing glow of post-workout exhaustion gets the male juices flowing. Depending on how you view it, steam room sex is either the last hurrah of liberating seventies-era gay culture or a grim reminder of that era’s excesses and dangers, both psychological and physical.
After having tried several different images and formats, the one that will always remain true for Deborah Cox is the grandiose ballad-turned-big room circuit anthem, and I for one think she should never stray from it. Ever. “Beautiful U R” is woman-to-woman “keep ya head up” piece that reads like a stylish PSA with a kick ass chorus, “Don’t ever let nobody bring you down, girl/ Don’t ever let nobody tear your world apart/ Look in the mirror and see who you are/ Beautiful you are.” Remix credits are Gabi New
It’s May and Rihanna’s already had a year. But despite the Chris Brown beat down and the rampant herpes allegations, it’s nice to know that she and her label still make time to appease her dance music fans and the mob of gays that love her. At first glance this looks like the American version of the bonus disc from the European import version of the original album, but there’s actually quite a bit more to appreciate here.
It had to happen. Cyndi releases a dance floor album and it becomes obligatory to remix the hell out of it. This Japanese-only import has been a highly coveted item ever since word of its impending release first surfaced, and its scarcity only makes the whole prospect that much more delicious.
This one deserves an award for her greatest F-You to pop radio. Honestly, when I heard “Womanizer” I was a little disappointed. After all the media frenzy and the video for “Pieces of Me,” I got pretty used to everything she did actually having meaning for a change, and being line-by-line specific to her life and her distaste for the celebrity culture that was slowly killing her. So when something safe and tepid like “Womanizer” kicked off her comeback album, I was left wondering whether pop success has to equate to complete removal of personal relevance.
