Musical Influences
“When I turned 21 I started working in a bar close to home, just a part time gig for some extra cash. At the time I never knew what an impact this would have on my life. Working as a cocktail waiter I became good friends with the resident DJ. During some of the busiest nights I would sneak off into the DJ booth and play with the intelligent lighting. After getting to know a lot of the dance remixes that he played, I watched the crowd react to the music. Something kind of clicked in the back of my head one night saying
“Hey I could do this!” This friend I knew promoted a club in LA. We were talking one night about how I wanted to start becoming a DJ, he then offered me at shot at my first gig. After that night of keeping the dance floor packed I knew that this was something I was REALLY good at. Since then I have evolved and grown musically up until where I’m at now.”
Projects and Mixes
“I had just finished a set at the Parlor Club in LA when a guy approached me, saying that he was starting a club night in Long Beach and wanted to do some give-a-ways for their first night to promote the club. He talked me into creating a mix CD for them. A month later I had my very first CD! After it was released I had random people coming up to me at clubs saying they heard my CD and they love it. “We play your CD in the car on the way to the clubs to get in THE MOOD” they tell me. Since then I’ve made 4 other MIX type CD’s for this club and each time I do another one I feel as if I get stronger and learn more each time. Every time I put together a CD I always put in songs that I would want to dance to. If I’m not dancing and shakn’ my butt when I make it, then the song needs to be taken out of the mix. You have to try and please yourself, that’s true of all things in life I think. If you approach anything trying to please the person your doing this for, you probably won’t do a good job. If you set your own standard to match you’ll please everyone!”
