Joe Solmonese Statement on Departures of Matt Foreman and Kevin Jennings
WASHINGTON -- Joe Solmonese, President of the Human Rights Campaign, issued the following statement regarding the departures of Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Kevin Jennings, Founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network:
“It has been an honor to work side-by-side with both Matt and Kevin during this oftentimes difficult struggle for equality. Two of our community’s national organizations have lost staunch advocates, but it is heartening to hear that both Matt and Kevin are committed to remaining involved as leaders for social justice and fairness for all people.
Matt is someone whose perspective, leadership and insight into our movement have been invaluable. In my three years at HRC, I have come to know Matt and consider him a friend. I look forward to continuing our work together on behalf of the GLBT community.
Kevin’s more than twenty years leadership of the organization he founded has made a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of GLBT and straight students. I congratulate him on building a strong and worthy organization whose work will continue.”
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
