LOS ANGELES DRAMA CRITICS CIRCLE announce NOMINATIONS for 39th Annual Awards!
MEDIA ALERT FOR THEATRE EDITORS AND REVIEWERS AND CALENDAR LISTINGS LOS ANGELES DRAMA CRITICS CIRCLE ANNOUNCES NOMINATIONS FOR 39th ANNUAL AWARDS February 5, 2008…Los Angeles… The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2007. The 39th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 17 at the El Portal Theatre, thanks to the generous donation of El Portal's management. The theatre is located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. Tickets are $35. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a catered reception (with no-host bar) and silent auction. The show commences at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the Awards show can be reserved from the LADCC's website, at _www.ladramacriticscircle.com_ (http://www.ladramacriticscircle.com/) Award-winning stage and film performer Jason Graae, who will receive the Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre, will host the show. Graae will be joined by Back Stage West critic (and perennial LADCC Awards co-host) Wenzel Jones. Additional performers and presenters will be announced later this month. Awards will be given in sixteen categories, honoring excellence in theatre over the past year. Six special awards will also be given. The LADCC is grateful to the organizations that have graciously agreed to sponsor our special awards this year. The 2007 special award recipients are as follows: The Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in theatre by an individual, company or theater goes to Musical Theatre West The Polly Warfield Award for an outstanding single season by a small to mid-sized theatre (sponsored by the Nederlander Organization) goes to Theatre Banshee The Ted Schmitt Award for outstanding world premiere play in Los Angeles (sponsored by Samuel French) goes to Jane Anderson for The Quality of Life. The Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre goes to Jason Graae. The Angstrom Award for career achievement in lighting design (sponsored by Angstrom Lighting) goes to Leigh Allen A special award goes to Jon Maher for his long-term outstanding achievement as an ASL interpreter.
