Human Rights Campaign Makes $10,000 Contribution to the Tennessee Equality Project

National Field Director Marty Rouse presents check at Nashville Dinner

WASHINGTONAt the Human Rights Campaign’s Nashville dinner on February 16, National Field Director Marty Rouse presented a $10,000 check to Chris Sanders, Chair and President of the Tennessee Equality Project (TEP).  TEP is a statewide organization working to promote and sustain equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Tennessee.

“TEP is doing important work to advance equality for GLBT people in Tennessee and HRC is proud to continue to support that work,” said Rouse.  “We have supported TEP’s efforts in the past, and are glad to continue to do so, especially as GLBT people in Tennessee face ongoing legislative attempts to write discrimination into law.”

The Tennessee Legislature is currently considering legislation that would prohibit adoption by unmarried couples cohabiting in a sexual relationship and that would prohibit any references in elementary or middle schools to sexual orientation other than heterosexuality.

HRC’s contribution will support TEP’s general programs.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
