Songstress Whitney Houston has had her share of personal ups and downs over the past few years, but this week, it was her daughter who was allegedly admitted to the psychiatric ward. A few days before her 15th birthday, Bobbi Kristina Brown apparently tried to stab her mother before attempting suicide by slashing her own wrists.
The daughter of hip-hop bad boy Bobby Brown and Houston, Bobbi Kristina’s life has been heavily documented in the press and was featured on last years reality television show Being Bobby Brown.
According to family member Ann Davis, Bobbi Kristina has been out of control, engaging in hard partying, drinking and doing drugs ever since her parents divorce last year. The teenager has been adamant about not wanting to live with her mother and has been spending most of her time with her uncle Gary since the breakup.
The National Enquirer, who first reported the story, stated that Bobbi Kristina tried to stab Whitney with a razor after an argument about her out of control behavior, and then turned it on herself.
The teen was reportedly admitted to Peachford psychiatric hospital, where she underwent treatment and was released a few days later.
Houston’s spokespeople have refused to comment about the alleged incident and no further news has been released about Bobbi Kristina’s current well being.
While the tabloid nature of the National Enquirer certainly casts some doubt on the story, several legitimate sources have confirmed the incident.
