Britney Spears and Mel Gibson do Costa Rica

The Odd Couple indeed. They were spotted dining together a few short months ago, and now, Mel Gibson has whisked troubled pop star Britney Spears and her father away for a Costa Rican getaway.
It’s not exactly a romatic getaway—Gibson’s wife will also be there—and the group, according to People Magazine, are “just going away for a few days to relax.”
Or perhaps to celebrate?
Just last week, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Spears had made enough positive strides to warrant her spending more time with her children. She lost custody earlier this year to ex husband Kevin Federline amid reports she’d endangered the children’s lives.
According to reports, Gibson and his wife used to be neighbors in Malibu, and reached out to the pop star when they saw her life spiraling out of control. Spears and Gibson have met for dinners on several occasions, according to a source.
"Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible," Newsday reported.
They are expected to be retreating at Gibson’s Costa Rica estate until next week.
