 John Edwards and Sam Nunn Make Barack Obama’s VP Short List
More details are emerging about who Barack Obama may choose as his running mate in November’s general election. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, who leads the Congressional Black Caucus, has revealed that the names of former vice presidential nominee John Edwards and former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn are on a list of potential running mates for presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

More details are emerging about who Barack Obama may choose as his running mate in November’s general election. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, who leads the Congressional Black Caucus, has revealed that the names of former vice presidential nominee John Edwards and former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn are on a list of potential running mates for presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
According to the Associated Press, the congresswoman indicated yesterday that members of her caucus asked her to forward the names of Edwards and Nunn when she met Wednesday with Obama's vice-presidential search team.
Kilpatrick also aid she made several suggestions, including former Vice President Al Gore, Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.
The Michigan congresswoman’s announcement has since been confirmed by Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder, the two remaining members of the Obama vetting team.
Rep. Joe Baca, D-Calif., chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, also met with Kennedy and Holder on Wednesday. Baca, a former Hillary Clinton supporter, offered Clinton's name but also suggested Edwards, Gore, Senator Joe Biden and Senator Chris Dodd, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano.
Another Clinton supporter, Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski, met with Barack Obama's vice-presidential search team on Wednesday but declined to disclose details of the conversation.
Barack Obama has said he will not discuss the process until a VP has been chosen.
